The first of five UFC events in the month of March took place Saturday with UFC Fight Night 253, which went down at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The 10-fight lineup was capped off by a flyweight headliner. Manel Kape (21-7 MMA, 6-3 UFC) rose to the occasion of his first main event with the promotion with a third-round TKO of Asu Almabayev (21-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC).

The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $134,500.

Debuting fighters went 1-0 at the event.

Kape, Mario Pinto , Nasrat Haqparast and Esteban Ribovics earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 253 fight-night bonuses.

The UFC sold VIP tickets to fans for UFC Fight Night 253, but the promotion did not make public the total number of tickets sold or the gate.

Betting favorites went 5-5 on the card.

Betting favorites improved to 4-3 in UFC headliners this year.

Total fight time for the 10-bout card was 1:55:50.

Manel Kape def. Asu Almabayev

Kape has earned 18 of his 21 career victories by stoppage.

Kape has earned four of his six UFC victories by knockout.

Kape’s four knockout victories in UFC flyweight competition are tied for second-most in divisional history behind Joseph Benavidez (five).

Almabayev had his 17-fight winning streak snapped for his first defeat since April 2017.

Almabayev has suffered both of his career stoppage losses by knockout.

Cody Brundage def. Julian Marquez

Cody Brundage (11-6 MMA, 5-5 UFC) has earned 10 of his 11 career victories by stoppage. That includes all five of his UFC wins.

Julian Marquez’s (9-6 MMA, 3-6 UFC) four-fight losing skid is the longest of his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since April 2021.

Marquez has suffered all four of his career stoppage losses by knockout.

Nasrat Haqparast def. Esteban Ribovics

Haqparast’s (18-5 MMA, 10-4 UFC) five-fight UFC winning streak at lightweight is tied for the third-longest active streak in the division behind Islam Makhachev (14) and Paddy Pimblett (six).

Haqparast has earned eight of his 10 UFC victories by decision.

Ribovics (14-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has suffered both of his career losses by decision.

Sam Patterson def. Danny Barlow

Sam Patterson (13-2-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has earned 12 of his 13 career victories by stoppage.

Danny Barlow (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) had his nine-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his career.

Mario Pinto def. Austen Lane

Austen Lane (13-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered all six of his career losses by knockout.

Chepe Mariscal def. Ricardo Ramos

Chepe Mariscal’s (18-6 MMA, 5-0 UFC) five-fight UFC winning streak at featherweight is tied for the fourth-longest active streak in the division behind Movsar Evloev (eight), Lerone Murphy (seven) and Ilia Topuria (seven).

Mariscal has earned four of his five UFC victories by decision.

Ricardo Ramos (17-7 MMA, 8-6 UFC) fell to 4-5 since he moved up to the featherweight division in November 2019.

Danny Silva def. Lucas Almeida

Danny Silva (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has earned both of his UFC victories by split decision.

JJ Aldrich def. Andrea Lee

JJ Aldrich (14-7 MMA, 10-6 UFC) improved to 7-4 since she moved up to the UFC women’s flyweight division in March 2019.

Aldrich has earned nine of her 10 UFC victories by decision.

Andrea Lee’s (13-12 MMA, 5-9 UFC) six-fight losing skid is tied for the longest of her career. She hasn’t earned a victory since November 2021.

Lee became the first female to suffer six consecutive UFC losses.

Lee has suffered nine of her 10 career losses by decision. That includes all nine of her UFC defeats.

Ramazonbek Temirov def. Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson (17-7 MMA, 6-5 UFC) has suffered all seven of his career losses by decision.
