Bryce Mitchell and Jean Silva get wish with Miami matchup

Ask and you shall receive. That was the case for Jean Silva’s latest UFC booking.

The rising featherweight contender called out veteran Bryce Mitchell after his TKO win this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 252, and just a few days later, he got the fight.

On Wednesday, in an Instagram live announcement, UFC CEO Dana White revealed Silva (17-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) and Mitchell (17-12 MMA, 8-2 UFC) have been scheduled to collide in an 145-pound matchup at UFC 314, which goes down on April 12 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

However, in a twist, White said it was Mitchell who texted him and specifically asked for the matchup after being called out.

Silva has taken the UFC by storm. He debuted in January 2024 and since has racked up four consecutive stoppage wins, with two $50,000 Fight Night bonuses. The Brazilian remains unbeaten in his MMA career, and fights out of famed gym Fighting Nerds.

On the other hand, Mitchell wasn’t seen too long ago, as he fought and knocked out Kron Gracie this past December at UFC 310. However, most recently, Mitchell made headlines in the MMA world due to pro-Hitler comments, which he later apologized for.

White said the booking against the streaking Silva wasn’t a “hit” on Mitchell for his controversial comments.
